Martin Boyle has worked across many markets and in diverse industries and appreciates the importance that a host city plays in the success of any meeting or conference. The infrastructure, hotels, conference centres, services and access are key parts in ensuring a city ‘puts on a good show’ when a conference comes to town. However, time and time again, it is the holistic approach that a city takes to winning a conference and the link between the subject matter of that conference and the R&D and/or education within the cities’ institutions that creates a strong bond and win-win outcome for all.

Martin has extensive experience in bidding for strategically important events and congresses to cities and has the connections with numerous key stakeholders in cities around the globe that can be called upon when needed to gather important intel. Understanding what makes a bid strong, what elevates its success rate and what the international body is looking for from bidding candidates is where Martin's expertise adds real value.

Developing a long-term business development strategy is vital to the success of any cities’ inward investment and longevity. The unique mix of Martin’s business development experience and success working with International Associations and corporations coupled with his experience working on strategic planning with major cities and tourism organisations now comes together in a unique and focussed service offer to D4 clients.

Martin is pleased to have worked with BE Sydney as the Director, Europe promoting and building relationships throughout the European market to increase exposure and grow congress business into the city of Sydney, Australia.

Conference Planning and Management requires attention to detail while appreciating the big picture. It can sometimes seem like a bit of a daunting experience to bid for and host a conference as an ambassador of your institution. Your expertise is in your science and education. We’re here to apply our expertise to help you, the Local Organising Committee, design a Conference business plan that will ensure success.

D4 is committed to working with our clients to ensure that the overall objective of a Conference is achieved. Those objectives are more often than not – to provide education, networking opportunities and generate revenue to support your activities throughout the year.
There are simply too many elements that need to be considered when planning and delivering a Conference to list here on our website. D4 is here to help you ensure you have a successful conference plan in place that will mitigate any risks to you or your institution. You may wish us to help you:

find, negotiate and secure a PCO (Professional Conference Organiser) – our consultants have worked for PCO’s and can approach discussions understanding both interests

review and advise on contracts with LOC’s (Local Organising Committees), conference centres or tourism bodies

Having been involved in the delivery of Conferences and Congresses over the past 20 years here in UK (and many other parts of the world) ranging in size from 150 to 3,500 delegates and with budgets sometimes in excess of £3million, our team has the knowledge and capability to support and guide you in the decisions you take.
